Client's Brief
Design a drought-tolerant colorful garden with better circulation
Designer's Notes
Create a colorful cohesive landscape that saves on water usage. This property had a lush green lawn that had large water demands. Bring color and life with planting while dramatically reducing the water demands. Save those monies for their child's college fund instead.
Remove the front lawn and create a beautiful contemporary drought-tolerant landscape.
Low Maintenance
Cheerful, inviting, and colorful all year long
Maintain existing circulation and improve circulation in the landscape design
Incorporate a variety of colorful plants which will attract hummingbirds, birds, and bees
Mix succulents into the landscape as a palette of interesting ground cover
Tie a plant color into the color of the door as an accent mark
Stone rock pathways through the garden for access and flow
Client Review
“We hired Catherine to redo our front lawn and converted it from turf to drought-tolerant landscaping. She came to measure the area and gave guidance on the LA turf removal rebate program. Within a week, we got a detail design proposal illustrated the landscaping and the description of plant materials which Catherine walked us through in person. Once we got the rebate approval, Catherine helped to coordinate the bids as she worked with contractors for the installation. We ended up using the contractors she usually worked with and they were very professional and courteous. Catherine/Dan (Catherine’s husband) was there to supervise the project along the way. We were clearly informed of the project timeline and the project was completed on time. Throughout the process, Catherine was very responsive and professional. Upon completion, she provided a maintenance plan. And she also stopped by a week after the installation to check on the plants. And if we have any questions, she has been just a call or email away. We are very happy with the project and we get plenty compliments from neighbors. We highly recommend Catherine’s work.”
