Designer's Notes
This project entailed a very large front yard that presented neutral architectural lines and coloring. The client's desire was to create a landscape that would be the main focus of the space adding personality and life to the site.
Incorporate a meadow to enhance movement with the soft breezes that come regularly to the area.
Add not only visual interest but touch and other senses with the sound of trickling water from an organically shaped water feature. The water feature also acts as a birdbath attracting hummingbirds and birds.
Choose a plant palette that attracts butterflies, birds, and hummingbirds to add lively movement to the landscape.
Plant a line of bamboos to emphasize mid-century architecture and provide privacy.
Balance the scale of this large area using different plant sizes, trees, and a meadow.
Use bright colors for accent only with more neutral tones to create a soft relaxing yet lively atmosphere.
